Sietze Wijma in..”Mirror, Mirror on the Wall”!

Sietze Wijma loves teaching his students new things. He loves climbing, playing the guitar and singing! As a child he wanted to be a rock star and he would like to go clubbing with Michael Jackson. He believes that the meaning of life is spending time with our loved ones.

1. What do you love and what do you “hate” in your profession?
The amazement on student’s faces when they learn something new during my classes. What I hate: cleaning spittoons!
2. Who is your favorite athlete and why?
My favorite sport is rock climbing, so this is easily Chris Sharma, one of the greatest rock climbers of all time.

3. Dirty (Street food) or high gastronomy?
Street food. I love exploring the staple dishes of various cultures.
4. If you were a variety, which would you be and why?
It would be Grenache. Grenache blends nicely with different types of varieties such as Syrah, Mourvèdre and Tempranillo. I blend in nicely with different types of people too, regardless of their background!
5. What scares you?
Climate change. Also, please don’t give me energy drink.
6. Jazz or the clarinet?
Jazz! I recently visited North Sea Jazz, one of the best jazz festivals in Europe. I also play the guitar, and I sing, but I would likely be no good on a clarinet.
7. What did you want to be (as a kid) when you were little?
A rockstar. I just wanted to travel the world and entertain audiences. At least some of that is part of my current job!

8. Which personality would you like to go clubbing with?
Michael Jackson, hopefully he can teach me some dance moves!
9. Two-seater or SUV?
Two-seater. I live close to the border with Germany, where you can bring those cars to great speeds!
10. Mom’s or dad’s?
Mom’s.
11. Would you rather be able to fly or be invisible?
Fly. I like to be seen, so this is a no brainer.
12. Sun or rain?
Sun, even though my home country of the Netherlands is rainy.

13. Sweet or (savory)salty?
I have a soft spot for chocolate so it will have to be sweet.
14. Favorite cartoon?
Suske en Wiske.

15. What is your favorite time of day?
Evening! Although a morning espresso is a highlight of the day.
16. Favorite app?
My banking app so I can make wine purchases.
17. Best advice you’ve been given?
A good plan now is better than the perfect plan next week.

18. Who is your celebrity crush?
Jennifer Lawrence.
19. Your favorite song?
Telegraph Road by Dire Straits.
20. When others talk about you, what would you like them to say?
You should talk to Sietze, he knows about everything!
21. What do you think is the meaning of life?
Spend as much time with loved ones as you possibly can.
