With the goal and ambition for the best possible representation of Greece in the European Sommelier Contest 2013 which will be held between 26th and 29th of September, in San Remo and in Monaco, the experienced Sommelier George Loukas has undertaken and he’s supervising the training of the candidate Nikolas Giannopoulos 1st Greek Best Sommelier.
George Loukas, motivated by his passion for the wine, started his professional carrier in the wine industry since 1998. Named the Best Sommelier of Greece in 2002, he was the same year representative of Greece in the European «Sommelier» Competition of Trophee Ruinart and two years later in 2004 he participated in the World’s Best Sommelier Competition. Among his other multiple activities, today he owns Genius in Gastronomy where he conducts Wine Courses for professionals and privates.
Through his 15-years involvement in all gastronomic fields as a Sommelier - in some of the best luxury hotels, resorts and restaurants awarded by the Guide Michelin - but also in the wine sales and marketing as well as in the writing and educating sectors, he acquired a miscellaneous experience.
He is in charge of the “coaching” of another passionate professional of wine, Nikolas Giannopoulos AIWS (Associate to the Institute of Wines & Spirits). 3rd Young World’s Best Sommelier in 2010 and 2011. Two times Best Sommelier of Greece (2011 and 2012), representative of Greece at the World’s Best Sommelier Competition in Tokyo for 2013, Certified Sommelier by the Court of Master Sommeliers.
The final result is yet to be seen…
